MP9: My five principles

Easy Navigation - I always make sure that navigation is easily accessible and obvious. I remember when I first made a website as a senior in high school, and the navigation were these clouds that were all over the screen and no back buttons. It was pretty terrible. Since then I’ve become a fan of very noticeable and obvious navigation.

Clean Interface - I usually always have a very clean interface. There isn’t usually a lot going on in terms of visuals when it comes to the layout. Although if I have a good idea for some crazy design I try it. But if its not spot on and doesn’t help the layout, then I don’t want something distracting the user.

Quick Load Times - I’ve made the mistake in the past of putting images that are way too big on my websites. This has caused load times of up to thirty seconds…no one wants to wait that long. Since then, I have taken the extra step of resizing pictures and testing out the interactions and load times before publishing anything online.

MP10: Brief

For my major project 2, I will create an iPhone app for Grado Labs. It is a headphone company. In the app, I will make with catalyst, there will be more than just a list of available Grado headphones. I will make it so there will be a visual of all the headphones, and by clicking on one a new page is opened. There will be a 3D view and information on the phones: price, weight, reviews, etc. Two other features of the app will be “Find a Dealer” and “What headphones are right for you?”. In the former, the iPhone will use GPS serices to find dealers nearby and provided contact information. In the latter, by answering questions like price range, age, etc., headphones that match your criteria will be shown. This app will be aimed towards audiophiles and anyone interested in Grado headphones.
